  56. 1.      Overview
  57.  
  58.     This disk contains the drivers and tools for the Windows
  59.     multi-screen dispatcher MULTIman and the ELSA WINNER Windows
  60.     drivers required for this operating mode.
  61.  
  62.     These drivers allow the Windows desktop to be spread over two
  63.     or more monitors on systems equipped with two or more ELSA
  64.     graphics boards, providing the advantage of a considerably
  65.     larger workspace.
  66.  
  67.     Please note that only special combinations of ELSA WINNER
  68.     graphic boards are allowed.
  69.     The MULTIman driver supports the following combinations of ELSA
  70.     graphics boards:
  71.  
  72.     first board:
  73.         WINNER 1000ISA [1|2] MB
  74.  
  75.     second board:
  76.         WINNER 2000PRO | PRO/X [PCI] [2|4|8] MB

  80.     first board:
  81.         WINNER 2000PRO | PRO/X [VL,PCI] [2,4,8] MB

  83.     all other boards:
  84.         WINNER 2000PRO | PRO/X [VL|PCI] [2|4|8] MB

  87.     Combinations with VL and PCI boards are not supported.
  88.         You can use only boards with the same VIDEO RAM.
  89.         With the WINNER 1000ISA only WINNER 2000PRO|PRO/X-PCI
  90.         boards can be used. The PRO and the PRO/X boards should not
  91.         be used    together, too.

  93.     No additional VGA-graphics boards can be operated in the
  94.     computer.

  96.     Up to four boards are supported. With four boards there is the
  97.     possibilty to choose a quadratic (2x2) monitor placement.

  99.     The board with the smallest memory equipment determines the
  100.     highest vertical or horizontal resolution.

  120. 3.      Installation
  121.  
  122.     Requirements:
  123.  
  124.     It is required that Windows runs on each of the boards (in
  125.     one-screen mode) with the ELSA drivers version 3.31 or newer.
  126.     The ELSA WINNER Windows drivers must already be installed before
  127.     you install MULTIman.
  128.  
  129.     About 3 Mbytes of disk space must be available on the harddisk
  130.     on which Windows is installed.
  131.  
  132.     The automatic installation and the following instruction
  133.     assume that your secondary and all following boards are
  134.     WINNER 2000PROs or WINNER 2000PRO/Xs.
  135.  
  136.     Installation Procedure from WINNERware CD:
  137.  
  138.     First start Windows in your normal configuration. This should
  139.     be on the first board.
  140.  
  141.     Start the program "SETUP" from the WIN31 directory of your board.
  142.         (e.g.: WINNER\2000PROX\WIN31\SETUP.EXE)
  143.     First the program will ask you to install newer Windows drivers.
  144.     You can do this. After that the SETUP program opens a new
  145.     dialog box where you can choose to install MULTIman or
  146.     the ELSA Utilities. Please choose the "MULTIman" installation
  147.     now. The program will ask you to insert the ELSA disk
  148.     "MULTIman". Now MULTIman will be installed on your harddisk.
  149.     But it won't be configured.
  150.  
  151.     MULTIman configuration:
  152.  
  153.     Terminate the SETUP program and start the WINman utility from
  154.     group "ELSAware". Please choose the resolution of the first
  155.     Windows screen.
  156.     Then you can click the button "Change MULTIman". In the
  157.     following dialog box you can choose the number of your WINNER
  158.     screens. After that please entry the virtual resolution for the
  159.     first screen and the physical and virtual resolution for the
  160.     other screens. At the end you have to entry a refresh rate for
  161.     each screen.
  162.  
  163.     ATTENTION:      Please pay attention to the specifications of
  164.             your monitors, to avoid damages. You can find
  165.             informations in the documetations of the
  166.             monitors.
  167.  
  168.     Confirm the dialog box with "OK" and save the graphics mode.
  169.     Please shut down all DOS-applcations, because a restart of
  170.     Windows is necessary now.

  175. 4.      Switching to "One-screen" Windows
  176.  
  177.     The installation of MULTIman modifies your Windows display
  178.     configuration in the SYSTEM.INI file. To switch back to the
  179.     normal one-screen configuration, proceed as follows:
  180.  
  181.     Start the WINman utility from the group ELSAware again and
  182.     choose the button "Change MULTIman". There you can switch to
  183.     "One-screen" Windows. Save this grafikmode and after the next
  184.     restart you are able to work with the "One-screen" mode again.
